Costumer Designer - alt Hamlet
Silver Glass Productions is seeking an experienced Costumer for the production of “alt Hamlet”, at the Players Theatre in NYC 9/7-9/24. This is an adaptation of Hamlet that is a response to the Dodd supreme court decision. It is a story of two Berkeley sisters struggling to figure out whether their father killed their mother. Must have availability for all times listed.
The Costume Designer will be asked to procure costumes and do minor costume adjustments. We are looking for a creative problem solver who approaches their work with a positive attitude and thrives being in a team environment. Silver Glass is a NYC experimental theatre company that presents socially relevant work. Meet with the producers and directors to define wardrobe requirements.
Prepare wardrobe concepts for presentation and feedback.
Procure costumes garments.
Participate in wardrobe fittings and production dress rehearsals.
Manage the project timelines, fitting schedules, and budgets.
Attend design meeting (1 hour, TBD, ~06/29/23).
Attend first fitting (measurements) (07/13/23).
Attend second fitting (08/22/23).
Attend tech rehearsal (09/06/23).
explain costumes to cast
Excellent communication skills, professional manner, promptness, and a desire to collaborate are vital.
BFA/BA in costume design or fine art and at least 2 years professional experience.
Compensation: $500 for the run. Production covers cost of costume materials.
